My client is currently seeking a full-time
Legal Document Specialists to work in their Calgary office. This
position requires an incumbent with strong technical word processing
skills using the MS Office 2007 Suite and experience with various
other legal software tools. The incumbent must be able to work
in a professional environment which is generally fast-paced, have
strong client service and prioritization skills, and have superior
proofreading skills. Ideally, the candidate will be able to troubleshoot
documents, be detail and result oriented, take pride in producing
quality work, and a good communicator with a team-oriented mindset.
Experience working in a law firm environment is a definite asset.

Position Requirements:
Education and Experience
Successful incumbents will have a Community
College Certificate in a Legal Secretarial Assistant program or
equivalent, strong technical skills (MS Office environment), be
a team player, have a positive attitude and professional image,
and possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Legal Secretarial
Assistant role. An equivalent combination of education, training
and experience may be acceptable.

• Prioritize workflow to ensure completion of accurate work
within established deadlines
• Maintain files; including daily filing, file organization,
opening files, closing files, etc.
• Handle telephone and mail correspondence, both incoming
and outgoing
• Administration duties, including time entry and bill preparation
• Other duties as required

• Minimum 2+ years Legal Assistant experience in Litigation
matters

• Assist with the opening and closing of Commercial Real
Estate files
• Preparation of Closing Books for Commercial deals
• Assisting with preparation of Commercial Mortgage documents
and may be called upon to assist with Wills & Estate files
and large condominium files
• Preparation of vendor and purchase transaction documents
and paying out files
• Assist with posting of time entries for various lawyers
in the department (as and when needed)
• Diarize files as appropriate – including allowing
time for document preparation and registration
• Dictation
• Assisting with document revisions
• Assisting with monthly billing summaries, cash receipts,

will assist by filling-in for staff during vacations and sick
leave.

Qualifications:
• A Legal Assistant with 5-7 years
of Oil and Gas regulatory or Commercial Litigation experience
• Extremely knowledgeable of court laws and the litigation
process
• Able to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
• Extremely professional and courteous when dealing with
clients
• Able to stay calm under pressure
